As we struggle to come to terms with our grief here in Tucson after the horrific act of violence that took two members of our community away, I have wondered how best to respond.
Many on the G3 Team knew Vinny and Cameron.
Out of respect for their families the decision was made to cancel our September 4th event but to move defiantly forward . . . and so we rescheduled for the following Friday.
September 11th.

I know what's it like to lose someone to hate violence. As some of you know, I lost someone on September 11th twenty-five years ago. Someone I really loved. My former boyfriend, Mark Bingham, who died a hero after rushing the cockpit on United Flight 63 which then crashed in to a field in Pennsylvania.
Mark was a terrific guy. A big, brawny man who was playing on the UC Berkeley rugby team when we met and started going out. Mark was a sweetheart off the field but a brute on the field and so, for me, it just kinda came full circle that we could both honor the memories of those we have lost while at the same time celebrating what it is to be alive . . . and play.

At 7PM during our G3 at BLOCK A we will be passing out candles and dimming the lights for a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of 9/11 as well as victims of hate here and around the world.
